Bing.com is popping up everywhere right now. Tv ads, media mentions, lots of blog coverage, heck Steve Ballmer even name dropped Bing when I was at The National Summit yesterday. But I’ve also noticed some really bizarre advertising going on with Bing through Google AdSense.

See here on a this page that hit the Digg homepage yesterday and there’s an AdSense ad for “Snakes” with “ClipArt - Pictures Snakes” as the description

Two thoughts: first, MS needs to hire a PPC expert to write some decent ads, but secondly, and more interesting is that the landing page for that ad is this:

What’s the strategy here…maybe people looking at funny album covers might like to look at snakes too? Not only is that weird but there’s no ads on the page so its not like MS is trying to arbitrage or anything like that.

I guess they just think that showing off Bing’s snake pictures is a good way to entice people to use their search.
