Uncharted Video Game to Movie

My parents, who for whatever reason, bought a PS3 when what they really wanted was a Bluray player also ended up with the PS3 game, Uncharted somehow, which I’ve spent a few hours (out of sheer curiosity) playing and was surprised and how good of a game it was. However, I’m shocked to hear that its been picked up for a movie. Does Hollywood really have that hard of a time finding decent scripts, that they need to dig this deep into the video game bin to find ideas?
